“Blue is ever lastly appointed by the Deity to be a source of delight.”
John Ruskin

About the Painting

The Blue Candle emerged from my continuing exploration of the desert as a place of spiritual presence rather than empty space. I have never believed that I paint landscapes. I believe I paint portraits of daimons that manifest themselves as cacti—ancient guardians that quietly watch over the beauty and timelessness of the desert.

The luminous blue cactus rises like a solitary flame, both rooted in the earth and reaching toward the infinite sky. Its blossoms suggest hope, renewal, and the quiet resilience of life flourishing in an environment that asks for patience and endurance.

In The Blue Candle, light is more than illumination—it becomes a living presence. The painting invites the viewer to slow down, to enter the silence of the desert, and to discover that what first appears still is, in truth, filled with wonder, mystery, and life.
